Duane Reade Passport Photos: $16.99 Price, Digital Copy & NYC Locations
Check the $16.99 Duane Reade passport photo price, emailed digital copy, NYC availability and cheaper print-ready options.
Quick Answer
Duane Reade is part of Walgreens. Walgreens currently advertises two printed 2×2 inch passport photos for $16.99 plus a free digital copy sent by email, with no appointment required. Because services can vary by store, confirm availability with your NYC Duane Reade location before visiting. If you already have a compliant digital photo, you can skip the full-service fee and print a 4×6 passport photo template for around $0.29.
If you prefer to prepare the file online, the US passport photo maker can help check the crop, background, and passport-photo format before submission.
Duane Reade Passport Photo Pricing
| Service | Price | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Full passport photo service | $16.99 | Photo taken in-store, two prints, walk-in |
| Print-only (bring your own digital file) | ~$0.29 | Uses the 4×6 passport photo template on their photo kiosk |
| Digital copy | Included with full service | Walgreens advertises a free copy sent by email; confirm with the store |
Duane Reade = Walgreens (Same Service, Different Name)
If you've compared prices between Duane Reade and Walgreens and noticed they're identical, that's not a coincidence — Duane Reade has been owned by Walgreens since 2010, and Walgreens currently advertises the same $16.99 passport photo offer with a free emailed digital copy. Confirm participation with the specific store before visiting. If you're outside the NYC area where Duane Reade operates, walking into any Walgreens gets you the identical service.
Where to Find Duane Reade Locations
Duane Reade stores are concentrated almost entirely in New York City, especially Manhattan and Brooklyn. Popular locations include:
- Manhattan: 777 6th Ave, 530 5th Ave, 333 7th Ave, 721 9th Ave
- Brooklyn: 296 Flatbush Ave, 386 Fulton St, 164 Kent Ave
Not every location offers passport photo services or handles baby/infant passport photos, so it's worth calling ahead if you're heading to a smaller store.
The $0.29 Trick Most Guides Skip
Because Duane Reade doesn't check or take your photo for the discount print option, this only works if your photo is already fully compliant — background, lighting, head size, and cropping all need to be correct before you upload it to their kiosk template. If your self-taken photo has any flaw, you won't find out until your passport application is reviewed weeks later, since the print-only option skips their compliance check entirely.
What to Bring
- No appointment necessary — just walk in
- A government-issued photo ID (not always required for the photo itself, but useful to have)
- If using the print-only option: your compliant digital file, formatted to the standard 2×2 inch passport photo template
