PhotoOmni

Canada Passport Photo Requirements

Print applications and online renewals use different photo specifications. Confirm your application route first: Canada requires an in-person commercial photographer and rejects cropped, background-replaced, or AI-altered photos.

AI alterations are not permitted

IRCC requires the original camera file and rejects cropping, retouching, background replacement, filters, and AI alterations.

Frequently asked questions

Are print and online renewal photo dimensions the same?
No. Prints are 50 x 70 mm; the online renewal file is portrait 2:3 and at least 1200 x 1800 pixels.
Can I crop the photo or replace the background?
No. Canada explicitly treats head-and-shoulder cropping, background replacement, filters, and AI edits as alterations.
Can I scan a printed photo for online renewal?
No. The digital photo must be the original JPEG/JPG saved directly from the camera.
Why does PhotoOmni not automatically process this photo?
The current official rules prohibit those alterations. We show the verified requirements rather than create a file that may be rejected.
